सवालों में नहीं आते, जवाबों में नहीं आते
कुछ ऐसे क़िस्से होते, जो किताबों में नहीं आते।
वो क़िस्से याद हैं किसके, मैं तुमसे कह नहीं सकता,
कि मैं ये झूठ कहता, अब वो ख़्वाबों में नहीं आते।
ना ख़्वाब मेरे हैं जिंदा, ना ख़याल उसका बाक़ी,
बस एक सिलसिला सा है, जो दिल से कभी जाता नहीं।
ना इसमें उसकी गलती थी, ना ही गलती हमारी थी,
हम दोनों ही मजबूर थे, वक़्त की लाचारी थी।
वो महलों की परी थी, अप्सरा थी, राजकुमारी थी,
और हमारी हर ख़ुशी पर, ग़रीबी की पहरेदारी थी।
उसकी मुस्कान चाँद जैसी, उसकी चाल हिरण जैसी,
और हम तो मिट्टी के खिलौने, जो टूटें बिना किसी साज़िश के।
वो देखती थी आसमान को, अपने पर फैलाने को,
और हम देखते थे ज़मीन को, अपने घर बचाने को।
उसके ख़्वाब सुनहरे थे, मेरे ख़्वाब अधूरे थे,
उसकी दुनिया रौशन थी, मेरे दिन भी अंधेरे थे।
वो चाहती थी चाँद को, जो उसके पास आ भी जाता,
और हमें अपनी रोटी के लिए सूरज तक जाना पड़ता।
ना उसका कसूर था, ना वक़्त का, ना हालात का,
हम दोनों की ज़िंदगियां बस थीं, अलग-अलग सौगात का।
वो अपने महल में थी खुश, हम अपनी झोंपड़ी में उदास,
लेकिन दिलों के वो क़िस्से, रहते हैं आज भी पास।
आज भी याद आता है वो, उसकी बातों की मिठास,
उसकी आँखों का वो जादू, उसकी आवाज़ का एहसास।
पर ये किस्से अब मेरे हैं, एक अधूरी कहानी के,
जो सवालों में नहीं आते, जवाबों में नहीं आते।
